FAQs

What services does Dog Busters offer?

Dog Busters provides three main services: Behavior Modification training, Virtual Training sessions via Zoom or FaceTime, and Board & Train programs. I specialize in addressing behavioral issues like aggression, anxiety, leash pulling, potty training problems, and basic obedience through positive reinforcement methods.

What makes your Board & Train program different from other facilities?

Unlike traditional facilities where dogs are kept in runs or cages, my Board & Train program takes place in a comfortable home environment. Your dog lives with me, a certified professional dog trainer, for 10-20 days, enjoying yard time, comfortable dog beds, and one-on-one attention. This real-world setting helps dogs learn more effectively while feeling safe and loved.

How long is the minimum stay for Board & Train?

I require a minimum 7-10 day stay for my Board & Train program. The typical program duration is 10-20 days, depending on your dog’s specific needs and behavioral challenges.

Do you offer virtual training sessions?

Yes! I provide professional virtual dog training sessions via Zoom or FaceTime. This allows me to help clients outside the San Diego area and provides convenient training options for those who prefer to work from home. My virtual sessions address the same range of issues as my in-person training.

What behavioral issues can you help with?

I address a wide range of behavioral challenges including aggression, anxiety, destructive habits, leash pulling, potty training problems, barking, begging, play-biting, food stealing, separation anxiety, jumping on people, reactivity, fear-based behaviors, and basic to advanced obedience issues.

Are you a certified trainer?

Yes, I am a certified professional dog trainer with extensive experience in behavior modification. My training and expertise allow me to identify root causes of behavioral issues and create targeted, effective training plans.

How do you determine the root cause of my dog's behavioral issues?

As a certified trainer, I conduct thorough assessments to understand why your dog behaves in certain ways. Dogs may display problem behaviors due to fear, frustration, lack of training, poor socialization, genetics, or traumatic experiences. Identifying these root causes allows me to create a targeted behavior modification plan.

Can you help with puppy training?

Absolutely! I work with puppies on basic obedience, potty training, socialization, and preventing the development of problematic behaviors. Early intervention helps establish good habits and prevents future behavioral issues.

Do you serve areas outside of San Diego?

While my in-person services are focused on the San Diego area, my virtual training sessions allow me to help dog owners anywhere. Distance is no obstacle to better dog behavior with my proven virtual training methods.

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can contact me at (760) 978-5513 or email info@dogbusterssandiego.com. You can also fill out the contact form on the website, selecting your preferred service (Behavior Modification, Virtual Training, or Board & Train).

What should I expect during a behavior modification session?

Each session involves consistent, structured exercises tailored to your dog’s specific needs. I use positive reinforcement techniques and clear communication cues. Sessions require repetition and consistency to solidify learning, and I’ll provide you with specific exercises to practice between sessions.

Is the Board & Train program suitable for dogs with separation anxiety?

Yes, my Board & Train program can effectively address separation anxiety. The home-based environment allows dogs to practice being comfortable in real-world settings, and I work on building confidence and reducing anxiety-related behaviors.

Can you work with aggressive dogs?

Yes, I have experience with dog aggression and reactivity issues. However, these cases require professional assessment and specialized behavior modification techniques. As a certified trainer, I can identify triggers and develop safe, effective strategies to address aggressive behaviors.

How do I know if my dog needs behavior modification?

If your dog displays problematic behaviors like excessive barking, destructive habits, aggression, anxiety, poor manners, or doesn’t respond to basic commands, behavior modification can help. I can assess your dog’s specific needs and create a customized training plan.

Why should I choose a professional instead of trying to train my dog myself?

Professional trainers provide consistency, expertise, and structure that’s crucial for effective behavior modification. I can identify root causes of problems, prevent novice mistakes that might worsen behaviors, and ensure proper implementation of techniques like desensitization that can be harmful if done incorrectly.
